Spanish Cork Forests

In 2014 Jordana toured three regions of Spain with a US based NGO (The Cork Forest Conservation Alliance), and a Spanish Eco-tourism Company (Two Birds One Stone), where she experienced a total immersion in the culture, biological habitats, and centuries-old industry surrounding the Cork Forests of Spain. Throughout the trip, she was tasked with documenting the full journey of cork from bark to bottle: the planting and harvesting processes; the transportation, manufacturing, and sorting of cut cork; and the process of sealing of bottles of Spanish wine with finished cork stoppers.  Resulting images were used by The CFCA and recognized by the Forest Communicators Network of the Mediterranean to promote the protection of Spain's cork forests, and educate the public about cork and its vital position in many European eco-systems.
